FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions to Determine if Gillman Strategic Group is Right for Me.

How much portable business do I need for you to help me?
For an individual partner-level lawyer, we focus on helping those with at least $750,000 in portable business. However, if you have less business but unique circumstances or a highly sought-after legal specialty, we may be a good match to work together. We may also be able to help you find a position with a smaller firm if you have at least $300,000 in business and are willing to bet on yourself instead of being guaranteed a specific salary. If these criteria do not apply to you, please visit our Resources page.
Do you place associates at law firms?
I do not as I only represent partners or small law firm owners with portable business. However, I have worked with others in the past who specialize in this. I list some of their contact information on our Resources page.
I work as in-house counsel and want to go back to private practice or to another in-house position. Can you find me a job at a law firm or company?
This is not my area of specialty but there are others in the market who focus on your exact needs. Please visit our Resource page to find the right fit for you. However, if you are able to bring your current company’s work into a new law firm as a significant client, you will have a competitive advantage and I may be able to help. If this is you, let’s talk.
I am currently in private practice but think I am better suited for an in-house job; can you find me an in-house position?
In-house recruiting is a specialty onto itself. This area is not a focus of Gillman Strategic Group. That said, visit our Resource page for information that may steer you in the right direction.
I just graduated from law school; can you help find me a job?
I’m sorry, but recruiters aren’t able to work with new law school graduates. Your law school’s career services office should be able to help with your job search.
What is the best way to “network” with you?
I have been called a “connector” and a master at networking. I truly love meeting new people and helping them expand their professional networks. If you would like to network with me, I run several networking groups. Visit our Resource Page to sign up for one.
Are you willing to provide me with career guidance or help me understand the current legal landscape?
I do keep small blocks of time on my calendar to talk through these issues with people. Because I am often booked solid on my calendar, you may have to wait to get an appointment. In the meantime, I recommend that you visit our Resource page to see if your concerns are adequately addressed.

We Have Answers to Your Questions!

I was an attorney also and I know you are super busy and that confidentiality is very important to you.

I also know that you may have questions that you would like answers to without anyone at your firm knowing you are interested in other options.

This is the place to find out what you really want to know!

You can ask any question you have, such as what firms are looking for in a lateral partner candidate, how hiring is during COVID, the state of the market, how to know if you need a job change or a career change to be happy, whether your compensation is market level, how to know if you should stay at your current firm or look for other options or anything else you are curious about.

I want to make sure you have all the facts you need to decide if seeking new opportunities would be the right fit for you at this time.

Just submit your question in the form and I will personally email you back with the answer.  No pressure to move firms or work with me, I am just doing this to help you get the answers you are looking for.

I look forward to supporting you and answering your questions!
